Diego Agrimbau is an award-winning Argentine writer specializing in graphic novels, serialized storytelling, and original IP development across comics, animation, and film.
Comics and Graphic Novels:
He began self-publishing in the 1990s and launched his professional comics career in 2003. Since then, he has collaborated with major European publishers including Dargaud, Steinkis, Sarbacane, Casterman, Albin Michel, Norma Editorial, Planeta DeAgostini, Aurea and La Cúpula. In Latin America, he has worked with publishers such as Hotel de las Ideas, Historieteca, Agua Negra and Latinbooks. Since 2014, he has also written for US publishers including DC Comics (Vertigo), Heavy Metal Magazine, Capstone Publishing, and Fantagraphics. In 2011, he and Lucas Varela were awarded a residency at the Maison des Auteurs in Angoulême, France. His work has received multiple national and international awards, such as Prix Utopiales (France, 2005), Premio Planeta de Agostini (Spain, 2009), Premio Mort Cinder (Argentina, 2019, 2022) and SIlver Dolphin (China, 2021).
Animation and Film Screenwriting:
Agrimbau is a screenwriter with a specialty in developing original narrative Intellectual Properties (IPs) for both animation and live-action platforms. In animation, he has collaborated with acclaimed production houses, including Rudo Company, Bellolandia, Picante and Juan Pablo Zaramella’s studio. Complementing this, his live-action experience includes screenwriting for Productora Magma's feature film, Unidad 15.
Consulting and teaching:
Since 2005, Agrimbau has been a prominent scriptwriting educator and lecturer, with his teaching extending across a wide international range, including Argentina, France, Spain, Morocco, Peru, Uruguay, Colombia, Brazil and Ecuador. He has held academic positions as a screenwriting professor at institutions such as Universidad de Palermo (2007-2020) and ÉESI (École européenne supérieure de l'image, France, 2011). Parallel to his institutional role, he has successfully run his own offline and online courses since 2005 and actively serves as a professional Script Doctor for numerous writers and directors.
